Ghugari is an easy-to-make recipe which can be enjoyed anytime as a snack or can also be paired with chapati for a delectable lunch or dinner. The ingredients used in this dish can be found easily in every household's kitchen cupboard.Now, you may be wondering how 'Ghugari' can be called a South Indian Recipe? So, for your knowledge, this dish is well-liked by almost every Indian and every state has their own variation of this recipe. For example, Bengalis call this dish'Ghugni' and they make it differently by adding Potatoes and whole spices.

      Whereas, in the northern states, this dish is loaded with spices and is served with chapatis or puris. However, you can always add or subtract ingredients in any dish according to your taste, but, here in this recipe, we are only using mild spices for the seasoning. 
     This simple pea curryrecipe is made using peas, asafoetida, turmeric, chilli powder and salt. This quick dish is perfect for serving to the unexpected guests who visit you without any prior information. Apart from serving it to the guests or on special occasions,this recipe can also be a saviour for you whenever you don't feel like making something elaborate and time-consuming.

Ingredients of Ghugari:
2 cup peas
1 small garlic
1 pinch asafoetida
1 tablespoon red chilli powder
2 green chilli
salt as required
2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
For Garnishing
4 coriander leaves

Step 1
Wash the peas under cold running water and then, shell them. Put the shelled peas in a pressure cooker with water and cook over medium flame. After you hear 3 whistles, turn off the flame and keep the cooker aside.

Step 2
In the meantime, chop the green chillies, garlic and coriander leaves and keep them separately on the chopping board. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame and add asafoetida, green chillies,salt,  red chilli powder, turmeric and garlic. Fry for a minute.

Step 3
Then, add the boiled peas with a little water and mix it well. Put the lid on and let the dish cook for 10-15 minutes and then, take out in a bowl and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve warm!
