Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and allow them to splutter. Add sliced onions and fry them till they turn slightly pinkish in hue. If you are fond of spicy food, then, you can add some finely chopped green chilies and let it fry. To accentuate the taste you can also add some green peas and dry fruits, however, it depends on your taste preference.

Step 3
Now add cumin powderand  rice along with the water and salt. Mix it well and pressure cook for 2 whistles. To make the perfect jeera rice like the restaurants, you must be very careful about the cooking time of rice as it should not be overdone. Once done, transfer the Jeera Rice in a serving bowl and garnish it with some finely chopped coriander leaves and dry fruits. It tastes best when served with Rajma, Chhole, Paneer Butter Masala and Daal Makhni to name a few.
